Study sea turtles at the Bald Head Island Conservancy
Since 1983, the Bald Head Island Conservancy in North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands has led the nation in conservation and research efforts, but there’s more to the organization than scientific study. Take your family on an unforgettable outing to enter sand sculpture contests, see some of the 250 species of birds, kayak the creeks and maybe even witness a nesting sea turtle or hatching nest on the beach. The Conservancy’s Sea Turtle Protection Program is nationally recognized and committed to protecting the threatened species — there are only seven kinds of sea turtles worldwide. Take a trip to Bald Head Island to get a firsthand look at how the staff takes care of the sea turtles.
